Internet Access
In our reception area we have two PC computers with cable internet access, as well as two printers. We also offer Wi-Fi to visitors with their own devices. Anyone visitor may use either Wi-Fi or the computers at TSH 3,000 per hour, though it is free for guests who stay a minimum of four days. At the moment, we are the only establishment in Kilindoni to offer wireless internet access.
Stationery Shop
The New Lizu Hotel is one of Mafia's largest stationery shops, so look no further if you need paper, envelopes, exercise books or even an English-Swahili dictionary.
The Mtoto wa Kaa Conference Hall
The Mtoto wa Kaa ("Hermit Crab") Conference Hall is the only one of its kind in Kilindoni. It is possible to reserve use of the hall for any of your needs at TSH 50,000 per day. When not booked for a function it is free for our guests to use at their leisure.

Our Restaurant
Our restaurant is located within the hotel and offers both guests and visitors some variety from the usual Kilindoni cuisine.
A traditional Mafia Island breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9am and usually consists of tea, milk, pancakes and eggs for just TSH 1500.
Dinner is served from 7 to 9pm and varies with what is available at the market. A standard meal (TSH 2500) is fish and/or meat with fruit and vegetables. We also offer a special course (TSH 6500) with pilau rice, prawns and octopus.
Any special dietary requirements or requests will be happily obliged with a few hours advance notice. And remember, all of our seafood is locally caught.
Activities
We have spent years nurturing connections with the local community, and would be happy to introduce you to our partners for various activities, or show you around ourselves.
The main interests for most of our guests are snorkeling, diving and whale shark watching. For snorkeling and diving, we can arrange your transport to Utende in the marine park. Our partners, Big Blue Diving Centre, offer both excursions and certified PADI underwater diving instruction. The whale sharks, meanwhile, gather just outside Kilindoni, and our partners offer full-day boat tours at a discounted rate.
Other activities on Mafia include a trip to Bweni lighthouse, a visit to the coconut plantations, boat trips around the island, and taking a local tour of Swahili culture. You may arrange any of these activities with us in advance of your visit or upon arrival.

Mohammed Binally

Mohammed is co-manager of the New Lizu Hotel. He is usually found at the hotel on the evenings and weekends, as he also works as a teacher at Kilindoni School. He went to Ndagon primary school Kirongwe secondary school on Mafia before attending a teachers' training college in Nachingwea on the mainland.
Mama Shiraz
Mama Shiraz is founder and co-manager of the New Lizu Hotel. When she is not running the hotel and cooking her famous traditional meals, she can often be found volunteering as a teacher for children who are unable to attend school. She has an exceptionally calm nature, and makes the New Lizu a place of welcome as well as warmth.
